  I come from Italy and have lived in Columbia 2 years. I have to say this is the only authentic Italian restaurant in the Columbia-Irmo-Lexington area I've been able to find. The cuisine are traditional florentine, quality is good, ambience is nice and the owners delightful. I can't wait to be back, unfortunately they're not open for lunch!

  We received a $50 gift card to this establishment from a dear friend for Christmas because she knew we truly enjoy fine dining, which is limited in the Columbia area. First of all, when you pull into the front of this restaurant you are greeted by a sign that states "Drop off area only. Park in rear " off of another side street. So we pulled around to park on the side street and hiked back around to the front door where, upon entering, we were ignored by several workers, as it was not clear whom was the hostess, bartender, waiter, cook, etc. After several awkward minutes, several workers stated "we'll be right with you". Finally a young lady, perhaps the hostess, said "our chef said it will be okay for me to seat you, even though we have stopped taking walk-ins". IT WAS 8:00PM. Really? After they, as she put it, "we will have to set at table for you", ( at 8:00pm), we were seated, in almost a stadium lit restaurant. We waited several more minutes for our waiter to come to the table, so we could order drinks. He was a pleasant delight and the only redeeming factor in the dining experience.

  So.. I don't readily hand out restaurant comments because we cook very well in our house, but I must give a shout out to Sapori in Lexington. A real adult fine dining experience that is both relaxed and enough class to make it feel special. Food was excellent and wait staff was honest and friendly. Atmosphere was bright and fresh with a touch of an Italian kitchen. Worth the drive from across the dam or the river... just be sure to make reservations.. and invite me when you go!
